Hydrophobic Sand

Hands On Science, Season 2 Hydrophobic Sand (HOS Hydrophobic Sand) What you need: Scotchguard Sand (colored or plain) Bowl of water Napkins or towels How to do it: Hydrophobic sand requires a few hours to process, so give yourself some time to do this experiment. Begin by spraying the sand with scotchguard. Let sit until dry. Do this process for at least 2-3 times to make sure the sand is fully coated with scotchguard. Once the sand has been thoroughly coated, you can now pour the sand into a bowl/pan of water. Touch the sand and notice that the sand isn’t wet! Enjoy playing with the sand!
